What's On in the High Peak This Week and Coming Up in May |
From artists opening their studio doors across 33 High Peak venues to a trail race through the Peak District, there's plenty to fill your diary this month. |
With the well dressing season now under way across the villages (see our main feature this week), May is shaping up to be one of the busiest months in the High Peak calendar. Here is a quick round-up of what else is coming up in the area.
High Peak Open Studios - 23rd–25th May
For the first time, artists and makers across the High Peak are opening their doors to the public across 33 venues. Running from 10am to 4pm each day, the event is a rare opportunity to meet local creators in their own working spaces, see work in progress, and buy directly from the artist. Full venue listings are available at visitpeakdistrict.com.
Buxton International Festival 2026 - Launch Concert, 14th May
The Buxton International Festival has launched its 2026 season with an evening of jazz, classical music and opera at the Palace Hotel Ballroom. The festival itself runs through the summer, with a full programme of opera, music and literary events at venues across the town. Tickets and details at buxtonfestival.co.uk.
Maverick Peak District X-Trail - 30th May, Bakewell
For those who prefer their weekends a little more active, the Maverick Peak District X-Trail returns on Saturday 30 May, starting from Bakewell Showground. The trail running event takes participants through some of the Peak District's most dramatic landscapes. Race packs can be collected from Bakewell Showground on the evening of Friday 29th May. Details at maverick-race.com.
