Buxton Georgian Festival Returns for Its Third Year and This Time It Has a Silver Award to Its Name |
The award-winning celebration of Buxton's Regency heritage returns from 21st–27th September 2026, fresh from winning Silver at the Visit Peak District Tourism Awards. |
Buxton's most elegant annual event is back, and this year it arrives with a prestigious new accolade in its pocket. The Buxton Georgian Festival, organised by the Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust, will return for its third year from Monday 21 to Sunday 27 September 2026, having recently won the Silver Award for Festival/Event of the Year at the 2026 Visit Peak District, Derbyshire & Derby Tourism Awards.
The festival transforms the historic heart of Buxton into a living, breathing celebration of the Georgian and Regency era, the golden age that gave the town its magnificent Crescent, its Assembly Rooms, and its reputation as one of England's finest spa towns. In 2026, the programme will delve deeper into the complexities of the period, exploring not only the iconic fashion and architecture but also the social and political currents that shaped Georgian and Regency life.
Highlights will include the intricate craft of Hand and Lock embroidery workshops, guided heritage tours, and the centrepiece of the week, the grand Regency Ball, held in the Assembly Rooms.
Matthew Howarth, Programme and Events Manager at Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to bring the festival back for its third year, especially following our Silver win at the tourism awards. Our vision has always been to make heritage feel accessible and alive; there is nothing better than seeing visitors immersed in the stories we bring to life."
Simon Wallwork, CEO of the Trust, added: "The Buxton Georgian Festival has rapidly become a flagship event for the Trust and a vital cultural anchor for the town. We are proud to champion Buxton as a leading heritage destination."
